The leadership team and selected members will be in the sunshine state for the week!

We’ll sing, we’ll dance, we’ll laugh, eventually like everything else in this world we will die. But until then we’ll be chillin’ by the pool, attending awe inspiring seminars, and riding magical roller coasters. Unfortunately that means no meetings this week :(Aww, cheer up, I know how much you wanted to participate in honors in action this week but we’ll always have May (and June, and September, and October…).Stay tuned and see us at next week’s meetings!Honors in Action: Thursday 11:00 am PUB 257

College Project: 10 am PUB 257

Membership: 1:00 pm PUB 258A

Also, officer elections, DO IT. You get to go to places like Freakin’ Florida!

Honors in Action: Meeting #1 Recap

Guess what?! Our focus is now Theme 4: Exploring the Natural Environment. We will be looking into the limitations of being environmentally conscious in an increasing tech-savy world. Most people don’t think of electronics as environmentally harmful and we’d like to challenge that. The waste produced by consumer technology is not only harmful to the natural environment, its also harmful for those who must deal with dismantling our used electronics. Throughout the 2014-2015 year we will research and discover the causes and effects of “e-waste” and work to identify solutions. Proposed events are: a trip to a recycling facility (think Empower Up and Free Geek), hands-on volunteering, an awareness campaign, and our end goal of setting up a monthly collection of used electronics to be safely recycled.

Taking an environmental science class? Excited about recycling? Want to become more aware of this growing issue? Get your voice heard and come to meetings on Thursday 11:00am in PUB 257.
